Ithaca Creek Bikeway

Walk or Cycle

Updated: Mar 10, 2025

Ithaca Creek Bikeway is a shady, relatively untrampled walk and cycle trail of about 30 minutes one way that leads from Gilbert Park in Red Hill (near the Broncos) to an enchanted sculptor's playground in Bardon.

Little Italy, Red Hill

1. Starting from Gilbert Park (where there is a kids playground, dog off-leash park and on street parking), the path starts at the creek edge and winds behind the Broncos and the Red Hill Bowls Club, where there's an excellent cafe, Little Italy, serving well-brewed coffee and delicious Italian eats.

2. From there, cross the road and you'll enter the main pathway, which starts just past a couple of small warehouses. From here the trail winds its way along the banks of Ithaca Creek, passing a major construction site and a little brick BBQ nestled in a grove.

You'll pass alongside the back of a school and then past some creek-front houses, before coming to Jubilee Tce at the border of Bardon, with an underpass to reach the other side.

Here you'll stumble across the enchanted Civosity Park, which appears like a mirage as you round the corner of the underpass. This beauty spot under a poinciana tree is owned by sculptor David Enwright, whose house is adjacent and he has personally created this space for the enjoyment of the public, on his own land. On the other side of his house, further along the path, is a street library that is inside a fridge sculpture he has also created.

Need to know - From here, which is the end of the Ithaca Bikeway, you can either continue via Fletcher Pde to reach Fletcher Park, or return to Gilbert Park. The whole journey is approx 30-40 mins return by bike (this is a good path for learners and young kids) or an hour's walk.
