The German Club
East Brisbane
Updated: Nov 06, 2025
For a rollickin' good night in an old-fashioned community setting, the German Club, one of Brisbane’s best longtime institutions, is the place to go.
Here you can enjoy authentic hearty fare in a retro beer hall setting with lederhosen-clad entertainment.
Mains include traditional German fare like Pork Knuckle, Schnitzels (chicken or pork), Knackurst and Cheese Kransky as well as a mega Tasting Platter, including schnitzel, cheese kransky and pork belly, served with sauerkraut, fried potatoes and pretzel.
The club is child friendly offering children's meals of chicken schnitzel, battered fish or frankfurter sausage served with hot chips.
The long banquet style tables with loads of space around them, make it a great place for families and groups and once the live music starts (everything from German classics to Lady Gaga), the dance floor becomes a major child magnet.
It's also a magnet for 20 something hipsters who like to dress up as if it's Oktoberfest. It's a real cross-section of the community enjoying themselves under one roof - that it is the secret of the club’s charm.
Need to know - Dress regulations apply Friday-Saturday from 6pm - no thongs, singlets or work clothes.
