The Euro
Brisbane CBD
THE EURO HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN DECEMBER 2019.
The Euro is a cutting edge European-inspired brasserie offering inspirational dishes in a relaxed dining atmosphere.
Tucked away in Spencer Lane on the edge of the CBD, entry is via a laser cut metal screen set aglow by overlapping pink and green glass panels. The warm wooden dining room is dominated by the metallic ceiling and wall panels, yet the dark wood chairs and formality of the waiters manage to give it an old-world flavour.
Just like the décor, the wine list is a mix of classics and top shelf contemporary wine that has been carefully matched to the dishes. The comprehensive cellar list ranges from regional Queensland and Australian wines to international wines including a exquisite selection of French champagnes.
In true brasserie style, the menu covers a lot more ground than most restaurants of this calibre, with small and big dishes, as well as share plates such as koji-aged Queensland Stockyard tomahawk, braised Longreach lamb shoulder, and grilled Gold Coast tiger prawns, just to name a few.
'Smalls' range from grilled octopus salad and Euro-style fish and chips to veal tartare and Brisbane Valley quail; while 'Bigs' include Cotoletta (crumbed pork fillet), grain-fed Angus sirloin, pan-fried fish of the day and house-made fettucine of the day.
Vegetarian dishes (vegan on request) are honey glazed pumpkin with hummus, Israeli couscous and ricotta, house-made falafel with smoked paprika yoghurt and baba ganoush, and beetroot tartare with cashews and black garlic.
Do save room for dessert, with decadent sweets on offer like Pina Colada (pineapple pavlova with coconut mousse), dark Sumatran chocolate ganache with chocolate sorbet, and tonka bean crème brulee served with seasonal fruit. Alternatively, you can choose a selection of cheese served with accompaniments.
