The Small Crop

Wynnum

The Small Crop closed permanently in February 2024.

The Small Crop is one of Wynnum's best kept secrets dishing up delicious gourmet salads and homemade sweet and savoury treats.

Originally trading under the name Nom Nom at Jan Powers Farmers Markets, owners Toby and Kate Birtwhistle opened their first bricks-and-mortar store in bayside Wynnum where lucky locals can pick up a wholesome salad for lunch or dinner, or enjoy it in the courtyard at one of the communal tables.

Everything is prepared fresh on-site using quality, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. While the menu might change with the weather and seasons, customers can expect to find half a dozen delicious salads on display daily with something for everyone including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free fare.

Some of their most popular salads include roasted root vegetables, beetroot and handmade pasta, roasted cauliflower with pomegranate and toasted hazelnuts, and Moghrabieh - giant Lebanese couscous with roasted butternut pumpkin, fresh green beans and flaked almonds. Why settle with one when you can sample up to four salads in one big box?

Savoury treats range from ham and brie tarts, to slow-braised beef shin and ale pies, and rice and vegetable rostis topped with house made satay sauce; while sweet bites could be brownies one day and steamed ginger cakes with spiced poached cumquat syrup the next, best accompanied with a cup of boutique coffee roasted locally on the Sunshine Coast by Maleny Coffee.

In addition, this suburban gourmet providore offers a small selection of quailty local cheeses. homemade preserves and artisan loaves by Brasserie Bread.

Nice to know - The Small Crop hosts a pop-up farmers market every Sunday and Wednesday with Sandy Creek Gourmet Produce providing locally grown, farm fresh, fruits and veges.
