AKAI USHI HAVE CLOSED THEIR UNDERWOOD SHOP AND MOVED TO SUNNYBANK.

Akai Ushi is a cute, little noodle bar tucked away in Underwood's secret Asian laneway dining precinct.

Located at Underwood Central opposite Yuen's Farmers Market, this Japanese fusion bistro dishes up big bowls of slurp-worth noodle soups from traditional tonkatsu ramen with sliced chashu (pork) and takana on the side, to their signature tomato-based borscht soup served with sliced wagyu beef.

In addition, there's a fish-based noodle soup with tender trout fish fillets, a Taiwanese-style braised beef brisket base, fusion laksa with prawns, sliced fish cakes, shredded chicken and tofu, and tobiko wonton soup with wontons filled with tobiko (fish roe), prawn paste and pork mince.

What makes Akai Ushi unique is that customers can create their own soup by choosing a base with seven to choose from (spicy, pork, borscht, tom yum and more) and then selecting their favourite noodles; from ramen and udon to hokkien, thick vermicelli and egg.

Then there's the extensive range of add-ons: takoyaki balls, tempura prawn, deep-fried crab claw, pork cutlet, pan-fried pork dumplings, puffed tofu, and much more.

Not just noodles, Akai Ushi has serveral signature rice dishes including Taiwanese-style rice topped with braised crushed chashu, and panko-crumbed wagyu steak served with Japanese-style curry.
