Tuk Tuk Bar

Milton

Tuk Tuk Bar is a secret Thai garden bar that looks like a piece of Koh Samui transplanted in a side street off Milton’s Park Road.

Take a turn onto Gordon St from Tuk Tuk Thai restaurant (to which it is attached) and a little way up the street is a wooden door that leads to a tropical Asian oasis where punters gather at garden tables under lanterns for a cold Singha beer and budget lunch or Thai cocktails and bar snacks in the evenings.

By day Tuk Tuk makes a top spot for a delicious traditional Thai lunch served up from the bain marie – think Massaman beef, Spicy South Chicken or Vegetable Curry with rice for around the $10 mark.

In the evenings Tuk Tuk Bar serves a range of budget bites from Tuk Tuk restaurant’s main menu to enjoy with a drink, such as Soft Shell Crab, spicy Ninja wings, Coconut Prawns, Roast Duck Spring Rolls and Curry Puffs.

On tap at the bar are a small range of craft beers – Tuk Tuk Golden Ale, Stone & Wood Pale Ale and Picked Pig Ginger Beer – to complement the bottled beers, otherwise there’s a decent wine list and lush cocktails such as watermelon mojitos, Midori Illusion and Lemon Grass and Ginger Ice Breakers that won't break the bank.

Need to know - While Tuk Tuk Bar is an offshoot of the restaurant, it also operates as its own entity, with customers able to drop by for a drink and some street food (or lunch from the bain marie) without dining at the restaurant. Otherwise it’s the perfect way to enjoy an entrée to a meal next door, with a drink in the garden before having a main meal inside.
