Strauss Cafe Bar

Brisbane Cbd

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

The latest laneway cafe to open in the city is Strauss, a joint venture between Oliver Strauss, Simon Pyle and Josh Russell (of Cup coffee fame).

Located opposite the Hilton hotel on Elizabeth Street, Strauss oozes 19th century Parisian charm with exposed ceiling beams and brick walls while bentwood bistro chairs and timber tables fill the small space and spill out into the lane.

The excellent coffee is Cup, of course – a special espresso blend  of Guatemalan and Ethiopian beans - while the all day food menu is simple with bircher muesli and fresh fruit, avocado and sourdough, asparagus, poached egg, fried bread and prosciutto, and cold smoked salmon with pine nut tarator and sourdough.

Things to Note: In the latter half of the week Strauss opens in the evening for drinks (wines, cocktails and craft beer) and share plates of olives, cheeses and charcuterie.
