Newstead

Sip shop savour is the mantra of this charming little Italian café and providore found tucked away in Newstead’s commercial neighbourhood.

For outside is a cute al fresco terrace for café patrons and inside a kitchen table, pre-mixed baking mixes, pantry items and cooking paraphernalia produced especially for customers wanting to bake the Italian way by owner Mario (ex-Dolci Sapori).

The café menu features a small but delectable range of savoury and sweet Italian fare with much of the latter made by Mario. Savoury wise choose from the daily made pasta (divine cannelloni or pasta di forme for $10), salads, filled Panini, arancini or avo and tomato on toast.

Sweets-wise expect to find traditional Italian doughnuts and cakes, strawberry or chocolate tarts, cannoli, friands, biscotti and muffins, all of which come with an optional scoop of gelato and which go down a treat with the house Modena blend of di Bella coffee or Italian hot chocolate.
