Ku-o At The Gabba

Woolloongabba

Ku-O at the Gabba serves large, high-quality sashimi plates and traditional Japanese dishes in Woolloongabba's Trafalgar Lane.

The expansive restaurant is filled with Japanese décor such as hanging oriental umbrellas, Japanese booth seating and oriental symbols. There’s plenty of dining areas, inclusive of an al fresco dining space at the side of the restaurant. Wait staff wear traditional kimono dress, fitting of the Japanese atmosphere.

The menu is filled with dishes of all kinds; entrees, salads, sashimi, sushi, nigiri, tempura, skewers, Japanese mains, curry, udon, noodles and hot pot. Diners often choose to taste a variety of dishes as sharing platters. Starting with a popular Japanese entree, edamame.

The sashimi is produced fresh each day, with the selection of seafood dependent on what’s available in our waters. The large mixed sashimi plate is a great dish to order for a taste of everything. The dish is a work of art, making it look almost too good to eat.

Skewers, also known as kushiyaki, is a popular dish in Japan which can also be ordered at Ku-O. Skewers come in chicken, pork belly, cherry tomatoes with pork belly, king oyster mushroom, beef with vegetables, salmon and prawn.

Diners can also sink their teeth into tempura of all kinds; vegetable, camembert cheese, soft shell crab or a mixed platter.

If you’re dining for two, the Ku-O dinner set is a great choice, featuring various dishes that adorn their menu – it’s the perfect taster. The platter is filled with maki sushi, kushiyaki, king prawns and assorted nimono. This is all served on a tri-level bento box, with various side dishes.

More of a noodle lover? Tuck into one of their Omusoba dishes – a bowl of soba noodles, omelette and your choice of meat.

For an all-around Japanese experience, order one of Ku-O’s many sakes (the staff can help you decide which one), wines or traditional beers. The bar even serves a matcha flavoured beer, and yes it’s green!

Need to know – Nearby street parking is available. If you wish to order a hot pot, please book in advance as the Chef needs 24 hours to prepare.

Nice to know – Ku-O also has a restaurant in Sunnybank.
