Lucerne On Fernberg Cottage

Milton

These two charming beautifully-equipped cottages are secreted within a private rustic garden just outside of Rosalie Village in the inner west. Sharing the garden is the original heritage listed house Lucerne, circa 1862, which is Brisbane’s oldest privately owned residence and occupied by the hospitable owners of the cottages, one of whom happens to be related to the builder of Lucerne.

The Coach House is the larger of the two, with queen-sized bedroom and bathroom upstairs and kitchenette and sitting room downstairs, featuring a mini library, entertainment system with CD and DVD, barbecue and aircon.

Rose Cottage is one storey with ramp access and features all of the above except for the home theatre system.

Both have onsite parking and laundry facilities and come with the option of full self-catering or bed and breakfast. Rates quoted above are per couple per night and reduce for longer stays.

This is an ideal stay for those looking for an almost rural retreat (the garden has strewn remnants of farm machinery) yet with full city amenity and suits visitors to Brisbane, those looking to house excess relatives or needing a short-term escape from renovations.

Milton Station is about a 10 minute walk, as is the Park Road precinct, the XXXX Brewery and Rosalie Village - the latter offering a host of affordable eateries (Lebanese, Asian, Mexican, Japanese and Mod Oz), a small boutique cinema, the best gelati in Queensland, gourmet deli and butchery.

A 5 minute walk away on Baroona Road is Milton Centro, which also has excellent deli/café Tognini’s, a quality IGA grocer, patisserie, budget-priced Soul Bistro, fish’n’chips and an Afghani restaurant.
