Bang Bang Bar

BANG BANG BAR HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN NOVEMBER 2018.

Bang Bang Bar is a splendid opium den style bar that shares a Paddington cottage with its fiery sibling restaurant Sichuan Bang Bang.

Brisbane’s only Chinese bar, cosy lantern lit Bang Bang is well worth a visit, serving luscious oriental flavoured cocktails, beer, wine and ‘love potions’ that are the perfect accompaniment to the delectable Chinese bar bites.

Cocktails include Apricot Fizz, Bang, Lemongrass Sour, Every Thyme (thyme-infused dark rum, vanilla, ginger beer, lime and passionfruit) and the highly recommended Opium Diplomat Sour.

Must try are the Love Potions (all manner of variations on the gin and tonic), with a ‘Pick Your Own’ selection of 12 gins and 8 tonics (including pink grapefruit and rose lemonade), finished with a choice of Sichuan peppercorns, lime, lemon, orange, passionfruit, mint, pineapple or berries.

Bang Bang Bar also offers a selection of Australian, Italian and French bubbles, a curated list of red, white or rose wines and beers including Tsing Tao Sim and Peroni.*

The bar food menu is a real standout, with the likes of Sheng Jian Bao (steamed and pan-fried pork dumplings with black sesame seed), crispy eggplant chips with fried shallot, house-shucked oysters with Sichuan chilli oil. Ginger, garlic and black vinegar, seafood spring rolls and Rou Jia Mo (Chinese burgers on wood-fired buns) with fillings of Peking duck, oft shell crab or fried haloumi.

Nice to know – Whilst Bang Bar Bar is a great stand-alone destination, it is an ideal spot to make a night of it with dinner in the next room at Sichuan Bang Bang.
