Heisenberg Haus

Ipswich

Updated: Feb 02, 2022

Heisenberg Haus brings German-inspired cuisine and beer to Ipswich's historic Top of Town precinct, occupying a heritage building with handmade brick walls.

The lively restaurant bar features an industrial chic interior and a charming courtyard beer garden out back, the perfect spot for summer night feasting and drinking.

On the dinner menu are starters such as potato pancakes, pretzels, sauerkraut balls and smoked fish salad, while hearty mains include the likes of cheesy spätzle, pork knuckle, chicken, mushroom or pork schnitzel and vegetarian strudel.

For lunch, some of the more substantial dinner mains (think schnitzel and spätzle) are complemented by lighter offerings such as a chicken schnitzel burger, Leberkase (traditional German meatloaf with potatoes and salad) and currywurst (bratwurst with curry sauce and beer-battered chips).

Meantime, desserts available at lunch and dinner include apple strudel, gourmet ice-cream, skillet cookies and panna cotta.

Heisenberg Haus is also open for breakfast on weekends with a short, sharp menu offering the likes of pork belly benedict, omelette with garlic mushrooms, vegetarian fritters or crepes with apple, cinnamon and honey whipped cream.

Nice to know - There's also a great kids' menu (with a taste of Germany) available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
