Chapter IV
Paddington
Chapter IV is a chic café with a touch of Asian flavour and fantastic vistas atop a Paddington hill, and the fourth foodie establishment* of savvy owner Alyssa.
Located in the landmark historic store at Trammies Corner, Chapter IV serves a scrumptious all day breakfast daily an eclectic tempting lunch menu with Oz, Asian and Middle-Eastern flavours.
As well as dining in the spacious high-ceilinged rooms, the prized spot is the back verandah with its sweeping Brisbane vistas, featuring a couple of hanging egg chairs as well as a line-up of Parisian café chairs along a communal bench. Adjacent to the verandah there’s also a dedicated playroom with toys for children, making Chapter IV one of Brisbane’s most child-friendly cafes.
Breakfast dishes start with the light – freshly baked muffins, croissants and organic sourdough with preserves - followed by the traditonal/old school such as Egg Florentine or Benedict, ranging up to the Chapter IV breakfast – Free range eggs any way, bacon, lamb and rosemary sausage, roast field mushroom, hash brown, sauteed broccolini, house made tomato chutney and sour dough, or the Big Veggie Breakfast - free range eggs any way, with bubble and squeak, sweet potato, chickpea, zucchini fritters, avocado, thyme roasted field mushrooms and a whole lot more.
For something special, choose from the likes of Crispy Potato and Cheddar hash cakes, Coconut Pancakes with nutella brownie ice-cream, Brekky Reuben, Mushroom Fry-Up or the delicious house signature Softshell Crab Eggs Benedict.
To accompany there’s Campos coffee, Chai Latte, Hot Chocolate, a range of Origin teas, Fresh Squeezed Orange or Apple Juice, San Pellegrino mineral water, Tiro, Coconut water, Ginger Beer or Lemon Lime and Bitters.
Come lunch time, from 11.30 till close diners can enjoy more delicious fare including Bali Bowl with Gado Gado, Warm Chicken Salad, Mushroom Burger, or Linguine di Mare.
And ready to go from behind the counter are a mix of savoury and sweet baked goodies – house made chunky beef pie or maple cured bacon and gruyere quiche, cherry ripe cheesecake, raw caramel or peanut butter slices and gluten free brownies.
Adjacent to the verandah there’s also a dedicated playroom with toys for children, and in-house is plenty of room for prams, making Chapter IV one of Brisbane’s most child-friendly cafes. No need to leave the dog behind either – they can be secured to a post in the shade out front.
Need to know - Chapter IV is licensed, with a selection of Sparkling Wine, White and Red available by the glass or bottle and beers including Pure Blonde, Fat Yak Pale Ale, Monteith's Pilsner and Corona as well as Hills Apple Cider.
