Essence of Indya
Ipswich
Essence of Indya brings the best of Indian cuisine with a fresh twist to the inner suburbs of Ipswich.
The restaurant occupies a light and airy heritage corner building that has been refurbished with white paint and minimalist decor, with tables flowing to an outdoor courtyard strung with overhead lights.

Owners Sid Tripatha and Chandan Singh (chef) also own Indian Tadka, famed for its black charcoal kulfi dessert, at Augustine Heights and their second restaurant offers a creative fusion menu with dishes you won't find anywhere else.

On the menu you'll find entrees such as chickpea and cheese fritters, homemade vegetarian spring rolls and cheese & herb portobello mushrooms alongside classics including samosas, charcoal chicken tikka and pepper paneer.

House Specials include a rosemary-marinated slow cooked lamb dish with potatoes in a spiced sauce and Tasmanian Salmon, paired with black garlic and yoghurt, and cooked in the clay oven or Indian Red Spicy Chicken.

More traditional mains (also with a twist) include chicken tikka, butter prawn, beef, goat or goat wine masala, a selection or biryani, vegetarian and vegan curries together with favourites like butter chicken, lamb rogan josh and beef vindaloo.

Meanwhile light casual lunch offerings include the likes of lamb or chicken curry wraps and chicken tandoori sliders with chips.
There is also a kids menu with dishes like small bowl of mild butter chicken or butter paneer with rice; chicken or vegetable slider with chips, naan stuffed with cheese or nuts and sultana; or chicken nuggets and chips.

For drinks there's a range of refreshing mocktails, lassi (sweet, salted, mango, strawberry or berry and honey), juice and soft drinks. BYO wine.*
Good to know - The menu has an extensive range of vegetarian and vegan dishes and an abundance of gluten-free options.
