Best Beach Day Trips

from Brisbane

From the bayside to the islands to the coast, 7 great beach day trips from Brisbane:

With a small-village vibe, friendly locals, hidden gems and the beach, Tugun is a slice of paradise
With iconic surf breaks, a relaxed seaside lifestyle & small village vibes, Kirra on the Southern Gold Coast makes for a great day trip
Coolangatta's world-class beaches, relaxed lifestyle, vibrant surf culture and foodie scene make this a must-do destination

Locals have aptly nicknamed Noosaville, the stretch of fine golden sand along the banks of The Noosa River, 'The Golden Mile'.

All along Gympie Terrace on the Noosaville foreshore there are plenty of shady trees and grassy areas to sit, providing an ideal safe swimming spot which is very popular with young families.

Many picnic tables, barbecue shelters and several children's playgrounds also line the foreshore area, not to mention the iconic Big Pelican. The waterfront is a popular fishing spot and real pelicans frequently gather nearby, eagerly awaiting a bit of lunch or dinner.

Redcliffe is enjoying a renaissance, thanks to a world famous pop group and the rediscovery of its natural charms

Coochiemudlo Island is one of Moreton Bay's most secluded and compact sand-fringed islands, relatively untouched by time or tourists, its enduring exclusivity helped by the fact that there is only one cafe, (near the ferry stop), a beachside bar and no shops. As such it is a fantastic easily reached destination for day trippers, swimmers, walkers and cyclists.

With its proximity to the mainland (a 10-minute ferry ride from Victoria Point jetty), affordable access ($10 return for adults, $5 for children 5yrs +) it makes an unbeatable getaway for a couple of hours or a day and a top place for a walk with a difference.

At the northern tip of the Redcliffe peninsula the picturesque seaside village of Scarborough is a destination well worth traveling the extra mile for.
