Shinbashi Yakiniku

Underwood

Shinbashi Yakiniku is a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant tucked away on a service road in Underwood, paying homage to Shinbashi, a BBQ district in Tokyo, with Japanese-style barbecue.

Shinbashi Yakiniku, Underwood

Open daily for dinner, Shinbashi is renowned for its superb selection of premium meat and fresh seafood, which is cooked over hot coals by customers at their table. Diners also have the option to do Tatami style (shoes off) dining, just like Tokyoites do.

The menu includes mouth-watering meats such as Wagyu short rib, oyster blade and harami, ox tongue, tenderloin, lamb cutlets, pork belly and pork jowl, boneless chicken and chicken heart.

The seafood selection is just as impressive:  salmon fillet, Tiger prawns, Japanese scallops, NZ jumbo oysters, mussels and more.

Besides the plethora of protein, customers can select a range of sides including fresh vegetables: portobello and shitake mushrooms, capsicum, onion, sweet corn and sweet potato, which taste delicious freshly grilled on the barbecue.

In addition, there's Asian staples like bowls of rice, kimchi, edamame, tokoyaki, tofu salad and lotus chips.

Shinbashi Yakiniku is licensed with an extensive range of sake, umeshu (plum wine) and Japanese beer.
