Pawpaw Asian Kitchen
Balmoral
Pawpaw Asian Kitchen is a little slice of South-East Asia, perched on Riding Road in Balmoral, dishing up flavoursome fare from a favourite corner of the world.
From the same family that gave Brisbane Mons Ban Sabai, Pawpaw Cafe, Picnic, Pawpaw Asian Kitchen (Tingalpa) and Piggy Back, the Venzin Group’s latest venture is already winning over locals with top-notch dishes from Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
Open daily for dinner*, this little Asian eatery offers dine-in – with an undercover Balinese-inspired dining area - and takeaway.
Tasty starters range from steamed bao buns and chilli popcorn chicken to DIY duck pancakes. Mains include popular dishes like pad thai, cashew nut stir-fry, barbecue pork vermicelli and pho noodle soup, with curries rounding out the menu: massaman, rendang, red and green.
From Friday to Sunday, Pawpaw is open for breakfast and lunch*. Break the fast with a Nutrient Bowl of roasted sweet potato, broccoli, edamame, avocado, raw kale, poached egg, pickled ginger, sesame dressing and dukkha. Otherwise, there are barbecue duck omelettes, chilli burritos and coconut french toast with coconut ice-cream, mascarpone, grilled banana and maple syrup.
Lunch, served from 11*, includes sweet potato pad thai, roti canai and Asian fish tacos with crumbed barramundi, slaw, sambal and mayo.
Drink wise, customers can order iced lattes, lychee and grapefruit sodas, pink pitaya smoothies and whole fresh coconuts.
*At time of visiting in October 2017.
