Pizzeria Violetta
Kenmore
Pizzeria Violetta is a Kenmore treasure – a tiny authentic slice of Italy found in a suburban shopping strip that is the go-to for the best pizza in the west.
Located right next door to the best Chinese restaurant in the west Sichuan Bang Bang (which shares the same savvy owners), the postage-stamped pizzeria and its al fresco dining area are abuzz every evening with dine-in and takeaway customers.
And with the Italian wait staff, lively Italian music and the imported mosaic Pizza oven that takes centrepiece in the open plan kitchen, dining at Pizzeria Violetta is the real deal.
On the menu are traditional Bianche (white) and Rosse (red) pizzas, a must try entrée of Stuzzichini (chef’s selection of delectable Italian nibbles served on a board), Insalata and Nonna’s rosemary and garlic bread.
Amongst the Bianche options, there’s Quattro Formaggi (4 Italian cheeses with olive oil), Mimosa (mozzarella, corn kernels, ham, oil, cracked pepper and basil) and the highly recommended Rustica (Baked fine potatoes, mozzarella, taleggio, basil, pork and fennel sausage, oil and pepper).
The Rosse selection includes Margherita, Diavola ( spicy salami, basil, mozzarella and tomato sauce) and Capricciosa (mushrooms, ham, black olives, tomato sauce, artichokes and tomato sauce) and Calzone.
And the salads at Pizzeria Violetta are every bit as delicious as the pizzas – think Venere ( cucumber, yellow capsicum, mint, watermelon, rucola, crouton, feta and saffron vinaigrette), Caprese or Minerva (broccolini, marinated eggplant, fried calamari, pistachios, sun-dried tomato, spinach and Aperol vinaigrette).
Dessert consists of a range of ice-creams from Lick! In delicious flavours such as Burnt Caramel, Mango and Roasted Coconut or Couveture Dark Chocolate.
Practically everything on the drinks list hails from Italy, from the Birra (Peroni Leggera and Birra Menabrea) to the Bevande (Negroni and Aperol Spritz) to the Sparkling, white, Rose and Red Wines, save for the House Pinot Grigio (from SA) and the House Rosso (from WA). Soft drinks are Limonata, Chinotto, San Pellegrino, Aranciata Rosso and Acqua Panna.
And to follow up a meal in true Italian fashion are Digestives including Sambuca, Limoncella, Grappa Prunella or Vendemmia and Caffe Espresso, Affogato or Café Corretto.
Nice to know – For Bambini there’s a special menu of pizzas – Margherita, Mimosa or Formaggi.
Need to know - No bookings taken on Friday or Saturday nights.
