Hai Hai Ramen

West End

Updated: May 05, 2025

Hai Hai Ramen, a sibling for the popular longtime ramen bar of the same name in Paddington, brings a delicious taste of traditional ramen to West End's main dining precinct.

Occupying the cavernous space that was once home to Chop Chop Chang's, Hai Hai Ramen has a contemporary industrial vibe softened by gold lighting and colourful Japanese posters.

The majority of seating is at long communal tables and stools, lined up in rows, along with a banquette and handful of seats on once side of the entry in the window and private dining alcove on the other side.

As well as ramen a small menu of delectable snacks includes karaage or loaded karaage, chashu plate, miso sweetcorn or fried brussel sprouts and ahipped tofu (must-try!).

Pork belly bao at Hai Hai Ramen

There's also a small selection of bao, which is also recommended, with a choice of fillings - pork belly, tofu katsu or karaage.

No visit to Hai Hai ramen is complete without sampling the flavoursome ramen bowls they are known for, starting with classic tonkatsu or chashu-men or miso spicy tonkatsu.

The other ramen choices include chicken shio, vegetable shoyu or mushroom shoyu, all of which are equally delicious as the first.

At the time of visiting on its first weekend of opening, Hai Hai Ramen was still wiating on their liquor licence, and once granted, will be offering local craft and ginger beer on tap, whiskey, a smattering of wine and a small menu of cocktails.
