Sunny Doll Japanese Restaurant
Hamilton
Sunny Doll is a hidden gem of a Japanese restaurant in Hamilton, offering diners an exquisite range of Japanese cuisine.
Nestled on Racecourse Road, across from the Hamilton Hotel, Sunny Doll provides a modern dining experience in an intimate, charming setting with pretty parasols suspended from the ceiling and a striking mural along one wall.
The mouth-watering menu boasts a delicious range of a la carte and Asian fusion dishes that will blow your mind.
Starters include classic edamame, pan-fried gyozas and fresh sashimi (salmon, kingfish and tuna); or try Sunny Doll's lovely, light Japanese cucumber salad tossed with crab meat and fruit, topped with tobiko (flying fish roe).
The restaurant's large sushi rolls are popular options including the Seared Rainbow Roll (kanikama crab stick and avocado topped with seared salmon and tobiko) and the highly-recommended Sunflower Roll made with chicken karaage and fresh avocado, wrapped with egg sheet.
Other stand outs on the menu are the tasty, tender wagyu beef steak served with pickled eggplant and steamed broccoli, and the seared salmon fillet with asparagus.
Sunny Doll is fully licensed with a fantastic range of Japanese beer, sake and umeshu (plum wine). The restaurant is BYO wine only. Non-alcoholic drinks include house-made iced tea and Japanese soft drinks including yuzu soda - a refreshing fizzy drink infused with real Japanese yuzu.
