Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers
Paddington
Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers, Australia’s very first dedicated Italian gnoccheria, can be found on Paddington’s Given Terrace.
The bright little shop and eatery, with a communal tables inside and out and a counter packed with traditional Italian dolci, is the go-to for fresh gnocchi made in-house daily, with the option of takeaway or dine-in.
On the wall are black and white photos of the gnocchi-making process and hanging from the ceiling is the Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers mascot, Puncherella, a puppet from La Commedia Italian puppet theatre, which was especially commissioned and made in an artist village near Rome.
The menu here, as per tradition, is short and sweet, with Starters and Sides of marinated olives, truffle salted potato chips, mesculun house salad or salt and pepper calamari.
Fresh, handmade Gnocchi dishes (all around $18 dine-in) come with a choice of sauces: wild Mushroom & truffle sauce, creamy lobster and barramundi, slow-cooked Bolognese sauce, creamy basil pesto, pork & fennel Italian sausage, spicy cherry tomato and black olive (all sauces are also made from scratch in-house) or a vegan option.
And save room for dessert because there’s delicious house-made Italian tiramisu, Sicilian ricotta cannoli, panna cotta or Nonna's lemon cake.
Good to know - Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers have a vegan option or a gnocchi degustation for those who want to try them all.
Need to know - For those who want to cook their own at home, vacu-packed bags of fresh gnocchi are available which serve 4-6.
