Last updated: Apr 06, 2025
Smoky Mountain Hideaway is a secret smokehouse perched on the side of Mount Glorious, offering stunning views and authentic American fare with a southern twist.
Located on a bend of the winding mountain road, this hidden gem is well-worth a pit stop, providing dining inside a light-filled room and outside on a large deck, with both spaces boasting beautiful bush views.
The hilltop hideaway offers delicious American fare with a side of southern hospitality, from the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina to Mount Glorious. Everything is made on-site including the mouth-watering smoked meats, house made BBQ sauce, and handmade potato and pale ale sourdough buns.
Breakfast (served from 9-11am) includes fried chicken and homemade waffles with maple syrup; crispy livermush topped with snoked sour cream & spring onions on a crunchy tortilla; huevos rancheros and Shrimp & Grits (topped with Cajun-spiced prawns, onions, garlic, and capsicum pan-fried in butter).
For something lighter, there's a choice of 'Stuff in a Biscuit' (smaller bites sandwiched into a homemade, buttermilk biscuit) with fillings like Dr Seuss (thick-cut pan-fried ham, mini omelette & BBQ sauce); and The Bronson (chicken fried steak with fried egg, homemade jalapeno queso & chimichurri); and Under the Weather (slab of livermush with mayo and mustard).
After 11.30am, patrons can get their hands on classic sandwiches such as the Reuben (homemade pastrami, sauerkraut, spicy dressing and melted cheese on rye) and Cubano (smoked pork, ham, gherkins and cheese with homemade mustard on traditionally made loaf of Pan Cubano).
Otherwise, there's the Southern Fried chicken burger (smoke-brined, fried chicken thigh with kimchi slaw & gherkins anon a toasted, homemade bun); Caesar Salad; and 700g thick-cut pork chopwith signature chips & side salad) Plus, there's tasty snacks like smoked gazpacho, buffalo wings with homemade blue cheese dip, jalapeno mac and cheese and triple cooked, smoked, hand-cut chips.
If you're after something sweet, there's desserts like homestyle apple, custard and coconut pie; chocolate espresso chess pie; Georgia peanut pie and Cheat Day Waffles (freshly made waffles with caramelized apples, ice cream & burnt butter maple peanut brittle).
Drinks wise, there's a selection of craft beer and cider, a concise wine list, soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea.
