From its original hidey hole in the narrow confines of an old brick loading dock, Brew Cafe and Wine Bar has since managed a further retreat from the rampant consumer world above by burrowing its way under the building adjacent. The result is a narrow funky dugout lounge with comfy couches, art works, no windows and lashings of ambience.
By day mall escapees pour in for a hit of excellent coffee and a bite to eat – think light weekday breakfasts, delish toasties and well-brewed di Bella – and by evening the basement lights dim, the wine bar kicks in and punters head down the darkened lane for a glass of wine, boutique beer or cider with a background of cool spun tunes.
