Picnic Cafe

West End

Updated: Sep 18, 2024

Picnic Cafe is West End's new go-to for delicious foodie fare for breakfast, brunch and lunch with a mouth-watering menu of classic dishes with a creative twist.

Located at West Village overlooking the village green, the bright and airy cafe boasts an abundance of natural light, with banquette seating and blonde timber tables, and plenty of plants, providing dining inside and out.

A sibling for Camp Hill's Picnic Cafe and Graceville's Goodness Gracious, the menu here is unique to Picnic West End, such as the cafe's signature Wagyu Scotch Egg served with house pickled salad, Béarnaise sauce, smashed avo and hash browns.

Other tasty breakfast dishes include Healthy Heart (house-made granola with kaffir lime dust, seasonal fruit, coconut yoghurt and mango sorbet), Powered by Avo (sourdough toast with avocado, whipped blueberry feta, heirloom cherry tomato and spiced beetroot hummus), and the highly recommended Pork Bulgogi Benny - mushroom leek potato croquettes, perfectly poached eggs, Asian apple slaw, pork bulgogi and truffle hollandaise sauce.

Meanwhile, sweet tooths will salivate over Picnic's Stacks on Stacks cream cheese pancakes served with fresh fruit salsa, berry compote, pistachio praline, vanilla ice-cream and salted caramel sauce.

Lunch options range from Not Just A Salad (lemongrass teriyaki bacon, pickled shitake mushrooms, baby gem lettuce and cherry tomatoes topped with poached egg, croutons, pecorino cheese and Caesar dressing) and Spice Bae Chicken Burger (25 spice fried chicken on brioche bun with truffle aioli and sriracha slaw) to Pasta Imposter - udon noodles, rose sauce, grilled thin sliced brisket, tiger prawns, chorizo, fried garlic, pecorino cheese and olive crumbs.

Light eats or snacks, available from 2-4pm, include popcorn chicken, fried halloumi sticks, patata bravas, or salt and pepper squid.

Picnic is child-friendly with a Kids Menu consisting of bacon and egg or pancake topped with strawberry and vanilla ice-cream.

Coffee on pour is by Paradox Coffee Roasters, served along with tea, hot chocolate, chai, milkshakes, smoothies, cold press juices, and boozy cocktails including Pretty in Pink (pink gin, prosecco, pomegranate and lemonade), Lady Lavender (crushed ice, lavender syrup, blueberries, lime cordial, vodka and lemonade) and Biscoff Martini - milk of your choice, Irish cream, coffee liqueur, Biscoff spread and Lotus crumbs topped with whipped cream.

In addition, Picnic has a carefully curated, concise wine list, as well as a small selection of beer of offer.
