Riser
Toowong
Riser is an artisan bakery cafe housed in an historic Queenslander, tucked away in the backstreets of Toowong.
Perched on a suburban hillside, the old cottage (previously home to Brent Farrell’s 85 Miskin Street) has been given a new lease on life with Riser, the bakery cafe offering freshly baked loaves of bread and delicious pastries, served along with excellent coffee.
Swing by and pick up a loaf fresh out of the oven - think olive sourdough, lemon zest and rosemary, or the Seedy Boi seeded loaf - or stay awhile and enjoy a flaky pastry and well-brewed coffee with ample seating provided out front, inside the bakery cafe, upstairs in a bright and airy dining room, plus outdoors in garden setting.
Pastries include a delectable selection of sweet and savoury treats. The former includes seasonal fruit danishes, pear crumble tarts, kouign-amann and kardemummabuller (Swedish cardamon buns), while the latter ranges from sausage rolls and mini quiches to mortadella and pickle chili croissants.
For something more substantial, there's an array of fresh sandwiches on thick cut bread such as classic egg salad, ham and smoked cheddar, and miso glazed eggplant with wasabi mayo.
Coffee on pour is by Coffee Supreme, served along with fresh orange juice, and Yoke Cafe spicy chai.
