Gunshop Cafe
West End
The Gunshop Cafe is a West End institution, as renowned for the queues that flank Montague St around 9am on weekend mornings to feast to partake in breakfast as the fabulous breakfast fare itself.
The queues are not for lack of seating as the rustic chic dining space with its exposed handmade brick walls is packed with wooden tables and there is a sizable courtyard out back where herb gardens and tables vie for space.
The trick here is that all menu items, including the scrambled eggs are whipped up individually moments before serving, so don’t leave your patience at the door. Just rest assured it’ll be worth the wait.
The signature dish – potato and fetta hash cakes retains its popularity after all these years but those who want to venture into other turf, options include Mooloolaba spanner crab omelettes, Canadian brioche French toast with bacon and sauteed greens with poached egg, dukkah and Persian fetta.
