Cafe On Cusack

Jimboomba

Café on Cusack is a rustic gem of a café nestled within Jimboomba’s quaint colonial village that makes the perfect whistle stop for visitors to the township and passers-by.

Large courtyard with people sitting at tables

The ‘village’ is a charming chain of 2 storey Queenslanders, linked by decorative high-ceilinged carriageways with hanging greenery and it is within one of these that Café on Cusack is found.

Open 7 days a week for some gourmet country style fare, the café is a charming child and dog friendly place that occupies both the carriageway and a retro lounge and dining area littered with country style bric-a-brac.

There’s an extensive menu of all day breakfast and lunch to choose from, with the former offering options like bacon and egg muffins, a Breakie sandwich, French Toast with cinnamon, apple, cream and maple syrup, omelettes, Big/ Mini-big and Vege Breakfasts and Ragu of bacon, tomato, mushrooms, onion, herbs and poached eggs as well as daily specials like Corn Fritters.

For lunch/brunch, there’s ‘Something Light’ such as Spiced Pumpkin and Fetta on rye, freshly made Soup and salads galore – think classics like Caesar and Greek alongside Beetroot, Pumpkin Spinach and Fetta and Chicken, Pear and Cashew Nut with creamy mustard sauce.

Otherwise choose from Club Sandwiches, Tandoori/Satay or Vege burgers, Pizza, Pasta and even a Thai Chicken Curry.

For something sweet the counter has a delicious range of fresh baked goodies (including raw and gluten free) like blondies and brownies, date and walnut slice, vanilla slice with caramel apples, chocolate layer cake and luscious banana and carrot cake.

Carrot cake and cream

To drink there’s Merlo coffee, an organic ‘tea tonic’ range, chocolate/cherry ripe/mocha or coffee milk or thick shakes, smoothies and fresh squeezed juice.

And kids and seniors with small appetites aren’t forgotten with a mini menu of fish’n’chips, cheesy scrambled eggs and toast or bacon and boiled egg with toast for under $10.

Need to know – Café on Cusack is child-friendly, with plenty of space for prams and toddlers outside, including a mini cubby house tent and inside, a little activity table for drawing and colouring in and some picture books.
Dogs are also welcome, to be tied up outside by the footpath and friendly staff are happy to provide a bowl of water.

Nice to know – There’s a limited amount of off-street parking spaces adjacent the Colonial Village. For a post-digestive walk there's a secret park in a nearby housing estate that resembles a chunk of farmland and has walking paths around a dam.
