Front Yard Bar is Brisbane's best kept secret - a charming rustic treehouse-style bar annexed to a residential house and tucked away in a commercial area of Auchenflower.
Hidden behind a wall of greenery, the split level tiki-themed timber bar is entered via a staircase off the street and is literally like finding yourself at someone's house party.
All patrons (including 4-legged) are greeted warmly by the hosts and owners, who treat you like a guest at their house and invited to take a seat on the lower deck or mezzanine level where there are larger tables for groups.
On site is a 'tiki bar' (a drinks and food cabin where all orders are placed), a collection of table games, water bowl for pooches and a row of bar stools overlooking the street.
Just like the setting, the drinks are at down-to-earth prices, with house wines and spirits $8.50, beers from $6.50 and soft drinks $3.50. Cocktails start at $10 for the house Mimosa, and include Aperol Spritz, Margarita and Strawberry Daiquiri; and there's also a couple of mocktails.
The food menu is simple yet delicious, with a choice of bar snacks such as roast peanuts or garlic pita & dips; FYB grazing plate (your choice of tasty cheeses, pates and olives, water crackers, raw vegetables, chocolates, dips dried fruits & other tapas); pita pizzas (ham & pineapple, tomato & basil or pepperoni & tomato and mozzarella); as well as sweet treats like homemade warm fudge brownie & ice-cream.
Adding to the fun, Front Yard Bar hosts trivia sessions on Sunday afternoons and soon-to-be live unplugged music sessions. Plus you can host your next function at FYB, with packages from $24.90pp.
