Covent Garden

West End

Covent Garden is a splendid botanical-themed bar and eatery with tropical rear garden in a colonial West End shop.

The plant-filled oasis in the midst of bustling Boundary St specialises in gin and gin cocktails, with the house signature the G + High Tea – a 3-tier stand of savoury bar snacks and sweet delicacies served with a watering can of gin cocktail.

Patrons can take a seat in the lush rear garden - where there’s a cute cubby house bar, surrounded by staghorns, bamboo and fairylit frangipani tree, upstairs in the English parlour style lounge with balcony overlooking the street or perched on a stool in the front bar watching the West End street life go by.

Aside from the high tea there’s plenty of other reasons to dine here, with a delectable menu of top quality, yet casual dishes designed to share. Small starters include chipotle chicken taco, manchego croquette and the must-try swordfish kebab.

Entrée size dishes feature the likes of zucchini fritters with yoghurt and lemon, mezze with baba ghanoush, feta, pickled veges and bread or juniper smoked salmon with hale remoulade, pearls, anise herbs and lavosh.

Large plates, meanwhile, include melt-in-the-mouth lamb shoulder, panzanella salad, yoghurt and lemon myrtle, sweet potato with Persian feta, green apple, mint and crisp garlicor pork cheeks with sherry, nashi pear and shallots.

In a group that can’t decide? Then order a Feasting Table – a selection of Covent Garden’s most popular dishes for just $39pp (available for groups of 4+).

If you’re not dining, Covent Garden makes a perfect spot to enjoy a few drinks. As well as the luscious botanical house and gin cocktails, there are craft beers/cider on tap as well as an impressive list of beer and cider by the bottle, and a small curated menu of Australian and international wines.

But first and foremost Covent Garden is a gin drinker’s nirvana, with a 4-page list including boutique and small batch gins from all around Australia and the world.

Other spirit drinkers aren’t forgotten though, with a quality selection of vodka, tequila, rum, bourbon and scotch whisky available.

Nice to know – The food menu is 100% gluten free and coeliac friendly.

Need to know – Covent Garden’s many beautiful spaces are available for function bookings.
