La Lune Wine Co
South Brisbane
La Lune Wine Co is a classy little French style wine bar tucked away in South Brisbane's Fish Lane.
The chic intimate space features 103-year-old oak sourced from chateaus and barns in France's countryside and French tiles - the perfect setting for a tete a tete any time, casual lunch, coffee or a post-work/late night glass of wine.
As well as a top quality curated wine list, sourced from the leading wine regions in Australia, New Zealand and France (and a smattering from Italy and Spain) La Lune serves local and Spanish craft beer, cider, liqueurs, port and sherry. There's also French Cognac and Anmanganc, Caribbean and Mauritian Rum, Italian Apperitifs and Digestives, Scotch and Whiskey, English Vodka, Gin and Mexican Tequila.
To accompany, there's a selection of Cheese (think Berry's Creek - Blue, Buffalo & Ossau Iraty - Semi-hard Sheep) , and small plates such as salami, raw kingfish, fermented tomato and lime or asparagus risotto, smoked pea and lemon myrtle.
For something more substantial there are first class dishes such as rump cap with shiitake and potato fondant; smoked spatchcock, mushroom and potato foam; white fish with pippi butter and karkalla or confit duck, red cabbage and black garlic. Then to follow there's almond panna cotta or chocolate 2 ways with raspberry and creme fraiche (all of which are gluten free).
Meanwhile, the piece de resistance is the tasting menu of six carefully-crafted dishes, chef Paul McGivern's creative innovations, to be paired with wines.
Good to know - Paul McGivern is a revered stalwart of the Brisbane dining scene, with previous ventures including Manx at Portside Wharf, Camp Hill's Rapide, Corella at Woolloongabba and East Brisbane bistro The Wolfe.
