Next door to the old Truth newspaper building is the aptly named Press Club although nothing could be further from the Truth when it comes to the lavish interior and the hunter’s club meets opium den décor of this spacious long-established lounge bar.
On weekends, DJ’s spin soulful dance while on on other nights, live music, usually imported from a cool jazzy planet somewhere, livens up the house and provides the perfect accompaniment to the mean in-house cocktails.
As one of the earliest bars to transform the Valley of the late 20th century and set within the confines of the ornate c1888 Empire Hotel, the Press Club is something of an institution with locals, for whom the giant industrial wall fan has become synonymous with a great night out.
