Cafe Lacuna
Wavell Heights
From the street Cafe Lacuna may not look like much but step inside to a convivial black clad world of jazz, comfy chairs, fresh flowers and home cooking with ingredients sourced locally.
The breakfast menu is a two tiered affair, ranging from the cheap and speedy – bacon or cheese and egg muffins, BBQ bacon and cheese toasties – to the hearty such as ricotta hotcakes and toasted waffles with coffee syrup or the cafe's signature Lacuna Benedict – eggs on potato and fetta cakes with bacon, tomato and béarnaise sauce.
Lunch keeps it simple with a choice of BLT, club sandwich, Caesar or Thai beef salads or the highly recommended beef burger with salted and lightly herbed chips, although items vary according to daily produce availability.
Part owner Krystel takes care of the baking with a small selection of sweet treats such as brownies and muffins and the in-house coffee is di Bella.
Worth noting: The cafe is air-con, has space between tables to park a pram and has a couple of high chairs.
