Miss Demeanour

Brisbane CBD

Updated: Sep 02, 2025

Miss Demeanour is a cosy subterranean laneway eatery and bar tucked down Rowes Lane in the basement of the heritage-listed Rowes & Rothwell building in Brisbane CBD.

Open from early morning coffee to midnight cocktails, late night DJs and everything in between, Miss Demanour is one of the city's real hidden treasures, worth seeking out.

Pop in for breakfast and dine on the likes of waffles (sweet or salty), classic eggs benedict, 5-seed avocado bruschetta or protein pancakes with a cup or two of well-brewed house coffee (a special MD signature blend).

On weekends, there's also a brunch menu available until 2pm, consisting of dishes such as vegan French toast, fried chicken muffins, vegan burritos or tempura spiced barramundi burgers.

Then for lunch or dinner diners can choose from burgers (braised brisket, fried chicken or vegan), salads (including charred pineapple, chicken & avocado) and mains like salt baked beetroot, chicken supreme or crispy pork belly.

There's also tapas-style share plates such as croquettes, crispy chicken wings, loaded fries, cauliflower 'wings' and loaded potato skins, while not to be missed are the house beignets ( a kind of Creole-french donut made from choux pastry), served with bourbon butterscotch, berry coulis or white and macadamia sauce.

Miss Demeanour

As well as coffee, tea (available all day), juices and soft drinks, Miss Demeanour serves rotating craft beers on tap and a unique selection by the bottle that you won't find easily elsewhere. There's also a concise wine list featuring Australian and international wines by the glass or bottle ands a creative cocktail menu that includes Lavender and Peppered Pisco Fizz, Rhubarb Collins, Cardaman Sloe Gin Sour and Cherry Coke Old Fashioned.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
