Ruby, My Dear is a groovy Japanese-inspired vinyl bar and jazz cafe from two Brisbane hospitality veterans, located on a corner in Newstead.

Brought to the neighbourhood by Tom Sanceau and Bonnie Hislop (former owners of now-closed Red Hook) the lively bar is already a fast favourite amongst locals.

In addition to the regular DJs, who play a diverse range of genres such as jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop and disco, groups of musicians come together on the first Tuesday of every month to perform.

On the food menu are  a selection of flavoursome Japanese izakaya-style eats, including a raw menu with bites such as wagyu tataki with garlic crisp; pork Katsu sandwiches; pickled mackerel with wasabi and soy; pork belly kushiyaki (skewers); koji-rubbed wagyu rumps and panko-prawn ebi buns.
