Fish Lane Fairy Door

South Brisbane

Brisbane’s newest tiny door has arrived and is welcoming visitors! Located at 76 Fish Lane, South Brisbane, this stunning display of miniature architecture is, by suggestion of the artist himself, ‘the fanciest one yet’.

With an amazing eye for detail, Mace Robertson’s Fish Lane fairy door has been crafted using ironwood, eucalyptus and aluminium, and even has teeny tiny brass fittings to complete the nod to a neoclassical design. Too cute!

A beautiful part of the city to explore, it's easy to see why visitors would pass by this tiny door and not notice it at first. Fish Lane is home to quite a few impressive street art wall murals, including the amazing monochromatic one across the lane that adorns the wall of La Casa Vita.

We’re quite sure if Stuart Little ever came to Brisbane, he’d be checking out to see if 76 Fish Lane was on AirBnB.

Nice to know – If you feel hunger or thirst set in while you’re visiting, there are a number of fantastic foodie delights literally just a fairy skip away: Lune Croissanterie, Big Roddy’s Rippin’ Rib Shack, Grassfed Vegan and Next Episode Bar, just to name a few.

Interesting to know – The now-popular dining strip, Fish Lane, was actually named in honour of a man called George Fish (many assume it was after a fish!). Back in the 1940s, George owned and ran the successful Fish Steam Laundry, which was on the corner of Cordelia Street and the laneway. When you explore Fish Lane, you’ll find a sculpture created by well-known artist Christopher Trotter back in 2013 as part of the Fish Lane Arts Precinct project on the site to mark the spot.
