UPDATED 19/7/23:  Sadly, this door is no longer there ... word on the street is that someone selfishly souveniered it. Check out more of Brisbane's tiny doors and tags us on your socials when you find them!

Paying homage to the famous artist, this beautiful van Gogh tiny door can be found in one of Brisbane’s oldest laneways and is the work of Mace Robertson – a talented artist who is the genius behind many of Brisbane’s small doors.

The CBD's Burnett Lane is where you will discover this particular work of art, and to help you, here's a hint... the fairy door is located on the Albert Street side of the popular eatery and bar Felix for Goodness.

Art lovers will quickly recognise two notable pieces created by Vincent van Gogh – the Dutch Post-Impressionist renowned for his love of bold and vibrant colours, as well as moody self-portraits.

And then there’s the whole ear incident. In fact, the name of the doctor-in-training who treated van Gogh in hospital after the ear-lopping episode was named Felix Rey – perhaps a lovely nod to where Robertson chose for this tiny door to be located. We hope so!

As you can see, the door itself showcases a fantastic representation of Starry Night (original painted in 1889, oil on canvas) in amazing detail.

The surrounds sport a beautifully recreated version of The Harvest (original painted in 1888, oil on canvas) and act as a wonderful frame and a striking colour contrast.

For architectural buffs, you’ll note this oak, Windsor tiny door is complete with 4-pane fanlight, there are smooth Doric columns on either side of the entry, and it all sits under a well-proportioned kobold arch. Brass has been perfectly used for the teenie details.
