Get into the Anzac spirit with a trip on board the Mary Valley Rattler's special commemorative Anzac Day Troop Train, departing historic Gympie Station to Amamoor return on Wednesday April 23.

Before departure at the station, you’ll be greeted by cadets in uniform and provided with a red poppy to pay your respect, them in a nod to tradition, be immersed in The Ode of Remembrance and take in the aroma of station-made ANZAC biscuits.

On board, enjoy the romance of the train trip through the scenic Mary Valley, crossing the Mary River, travelling through an abundance of curves, over bridges and gentle hills, before arriving at the quaint community of Amamoor. At this charming historic town, you can watch the fascinating process of the turning of the engine on the turntable.

Passengers have the optional extra of a traditional roast lunch at Gympie Station upon return, including garlic bread, pot roast beef, chicken, potato bake, roast potato and carrots, green beans and peas, traditional gravy & mint jelly and dessert of pavlova and fruit salad as well as 2 Anzac biscuits.

Passengers can also opt to purchase VIP tickets, which include the traditional roast lunch as well as a cheese platter served during the journey and access to on-board bar facilities.

Good to know - The Anzac Day Troop Train is wheelchair accessible. There is also a dedicated pet friendly carriage, sublject to availability.

Need to know - Children aged under 2 years travel free but must be seated on lap.
