Chattanooga Jazz Bar
Fortitude Valley
Chattanooga Jazz Bar is an old school American-style jazz bar and eatery, like a hidden slice of Chicago or New Orleans found in the streets of Fortitude Valley.
One step inside and you'll be transported from the gritty Valley streets into a glamorous bygone era with opulent furnishings and decor, music from Sinatra, Satchmo and Ella and, on Sunday afternoons and weekday evenings, live jazz and blues performers.
Run by Alan Lord Zara* and partner Chelsea, who have created the venue from scratch and greet guests like long lost friends, Chattanooga Jazz Bar evokes an intimate old world atmosphere that guests of any age will feel at home in.
Take a seat in one of the luxe burgundy banquettes and booths or at one of the cabaret style tables and enjoy a drink or bite to eat from the unique eclectic USA-inspired menu.
Entrees include Rancho marinade olives, Missouri salt and pepper calamari and Soho arancini; while mains include house specialty Chattanooga Signature Salad, Michigan prawns, Jack Daniels chicken and Texas beef patty; along with pizzas such as Chicago meat lovers, Atlanta Supreme, Harlem Vegetarian and Manhattan chicken and pastas such as Westchester spaghetti.
The big attraction at Chattanooga Jazz Club is the bands, who perform everything from Italian jazz to Dixieland and Blues, and the rare chance for audiences of any age to get up and have a dance to live music in a venue that is not a nightclub.
*What also makes Chattanooga special is its owner Alan Lord Zara who used to run the hugely popular Broadbeach jazz bar Den Devine. Alan’s a brilliant host who treats all his customers as long-lost friends. He is also very particular about choosing the best jazz acts in Brisbane and beyond.
Need to know - There is a limited amount of street parking in the side streets off Wickham St or park at McWhirters in Warner St, a 10 minute walk away.
