Adela Wine Bar is a sophisticated Euro chic bar and restaurant tucked away on Sandgate Rd, Albion, where the food and service is as outstanding as the wine.
The intimate indoor space features a small bar, with walls lined with backlit shelves of wine, an exposed concrete ceiling, stylish curtains and a choice of lowset lounge chairs, highset bar chairs and a handful of dining tables. There is also a covered outdoor terrace with more seating.
The carefully curated vast selection of wines (available by the glass or bottle), includes a majority of natural and biodynamic from the top wine growing regions of Australia, together with a smattering of wines from Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Austria and Argentina.
Adela also offers a bespoke cocktail list with a tropical flavour, including coconut margarita; pina colada; Something Like Blue (white rum, blue curaçao, coconut milk & pineapple juice) and the house signature - Adela: a Noble Affair (Japanese gin, toasted coconut sake, lychee liqueur & lime juice.
Do not leave Adela without partaking in the food, which has a Euro-African flavour and is exceptional. For starters there is beetroot dip with charred shallots. za'atar feta cream, walnuts and mint or burnt eggplant hummus, barbarries and sumac.
Smaller dishes to share include Adela's patatas (crispy potatoes, smoked pepper salsa & fresh chilli); Burrata with honey truffle oil; Fava Stew (spicy tomato & green chilli sauce); seared scallops (cherry tomato salsa with Vermouth, dukkah & parsley butter); and cod croquettes (spicy garlic and zesty cumari sauce); or coconut crab souffle.
Larger share plates include heavenly chargrill chicken skewers with garlic, mustard & leek cream; Lamb Ragu (sumac scented eggplant, lamb, caraway & manchego cheese); beef kofta (tomato slsa, za'atar) and Moqueco Annetto (grilled fish, roast bell peppers, herb coconut salsa, cassava cashe) - a must-try.
There is also a selection or artisan cheese boards with choices like Brie truffle summer or Roquefort (France); Manchego (Spain), Scamorza (Italy) and Mont Priscilla (Australia) and charcuterie including wagyu bresaola, sobrasado, jamon bellota and mortadella.
